I got scammed, DO NOT CASH THE CHECK!

I received a letter on monday, december1st. It was from marketdata research group wanting me to cash this check in the amount of$3988.00. I was weary at first, but i called the number and they told me to cash the check and wait till it clears. So i have waited, and i checked my bank account today and i was overdrwan. I called the bank and they referred me to a fraud rep. They told me that this was a definite scam, and to contact my bank asap. So i went to the bank today, and got everything worked out. I also filed a police report, hopefully these @#$% get caught!!! If any lawyers are reading this please contact me.
