Girlfriend's Account Debited Before Recovery Kit Arrived

I had an account with DirecTV for over a year and when I called to cancel apparently they thought I wasn't serious and did not cancel. Well my service apparently was active for over a month after that when DirecTV decided to disconnect my service. I called on July 9th and they wait until Aug. 22 to decide I'm serious. Which they say was cancelled because of non payment.

(really!!!) I thought it was already cancelled. On August 22nd they say they sent a recovery kit. This is August 30th and still haven't received the kit. Called again and the kit was re ordered and should arrive September 3rd. In the mean time 4 days after they cancelled on the 22nd, they debit my girlfriends account for the rest of the bill and the equipment they haven't received yet. Hello!!! No recovery kit (which they said they would send).

So they tell me extortion is legal, that they can hold this money until they get their equipment, and they can use anyones debit or credit card they have on file and take money anytime they want to? This isn't legal. They say it's in the customer agreement. Fine but they haven't given me the 30 days to return the equipment and they debited someone else's account without authorization just because they have that card on file. If that was the case anyone could say we owe them money and debit an account for any amount they want.

These people haven't worked with me or tried to give me a chance to pay my bill or send equipment back. 4 days after cancellation they debit an account?
This person doesn't have an account with DirecTV and shouldnt be bound to any customer agreement. I haven't found anywhere in their customer agreement stating they can debit anyones account they have on file. Yes they agree to pay for that one payment but anything beyond that should be authorized or at least a letter be sent out giving people a chance to do something. They should make people aware of charges before they just take the money right?

I will never and my girlfriend will never use DirecTV. They are very deceitful and sneaky and illegal. I will contact the state government to see about getting a petition to have them banned from the state because of their practices. Girlfriend called and at one point they tell her they can't give out information because it's not her account. But they can take her money and hold her to a customer agreement? Bullcrap.

Directv is not a company I would recommend to anyone for any period of time. They have also been known to extend a contract without a customer knowing it. People have had to order new receivers because theirs stopped working, and when they do it extends the contract. But yet they say they don't have to have a signature. To my knowledge a contract like that isn't binding without a signature.

Research DirecTV before you use them because chances are they aren't giving you all the information up front. They just want you to sign a contract and lock you in. They will find a way to take more money than you agree to.

This has got to be the worst company I have ever seen. They lie cheat and steal. This is it for me! Never again will I be suckered by DirecTV
