I hired WeHaul Moving to transport my belongings from NJ to MO, where I have a new job as a teacher. I wish, I wish, I WISH I had followed my own advice I give to my students and DONE MY RESEARCH!!!
This was by far the worst experience I have ever had in my life. First, they misquoted my linear feet and attempted to charge me $1200!!! More than originally estimated. Fortunately, one of the girls in the customer service department has a heart and a conscience and remedied the error; however, it did take over a week and a bit of muscle from my fiance to get the job done.
THEN, to add insult to injury, when my items arrived, they were soaking wet. Water was actually sloshing off the rubbermaid containers I had used for most of my items (thank God for that bit of foresight—I wish I had used them for everything!) However, many of my things were unsalvagable; the boxes I had used to transport many of my items literally disintegrated in our hands; my linens and all of my winter sweaters and coats were ruined as well as my stereo and dvd player, both of which had water gush out of them; a brand new leather sofa that is now stained with mildew, a brand new solid wood bookshelf with a huge gouge, and a china hutch made by my great-grandfather and passed down through my family for the past 100 years.
I low-balled the estimate at $3000 (my fiance said it was worth more, but I really wanted a figure they would work with), but the real kicker of all this is I am getting nothing. Nothing. Not one red cent from We Haul. My fiance has called several times over the past few days, and not a soul has called him back. They're giving me absolutely nothing for all of the damage they did to my things.
They are the WORST company on the planet, and I cannot wait to file a report with the BBB. Fortunately, my fiance's friend is a powerhouse lawyer in CA, and she's on this, too.
Do not use we haul moving!!!
