Don't Ever Use! - Storage Unit Coverage

After writing a review about Extra Space Storage I found that it was necessary to include their insurance company who is the WORST I have ever dealt with. The company is Beecher Carlson. I had some of my things damaged while they were in storage. It was heart breaking to have a family heirloom destroyed while in my care but they added insult to injury by being rude and not taking my claim seriously. I called the company after discovering that several boxes were soaked through. Water had somehow gotten into the unit and the bottom of the boxes were soaked. When I looked inside I discovered that there was mold and mildew throughout everything and several items were warped and bloated from being soaked. I read over my coverage and was relieved to find that though mold and mildew are not covered (this was a climate controlled unit so you would think that it wouldn't be an issue) water is. It explains what instances of water damage are not covered but mine was not listed among them so I was confident when I submitted the pictures that they would cover my losses. They denied my claim. They said that since they do not know how my items were damaged that they will not cover it. How is any person supported to know what goes on in a storage unit. No one lives there! Yes some damage you can deduce what happened but if you can't, does that negate the fact that your things are ruined? I have tried calling Beecher Carlson and leaving messages... They will not call me back. I have written and called the agent handling my case and she will not respond. I have called the corporate offices and no one answers. This is the worst company ever! Please never use this company they do not honor their coverage, getting a hold of them is very difficult if not impossible, and they wont send an agent to verify your claim.
