Attempting to File Legal Action on an Uncollectable Debt

Early one saturday morning, I received a telephone call from Trauner, Cohen, & Thomas informing me that if I did not pay on a debt (that is 10 years old) immediately that they would file suit on me on Monday morning. I told them that I would not promise a payment, and would need to call them back at another time. They informed me that I had 30 minutes to come up with payment information or a suit would be filed and my check would be garnished.

They informed me that when they won the judgement, I would have an extra $1,000 in legal expeses to pay. Please keep in mind that I have never heard from these people before through mail or phone conversation, and that they called me at home when their own ofices were closed - Even when I tried back, they were not in the office!

I intend on sending a letter today demanding that they validate this debt, and also wrote a call log of my conversation. Hopefully a suit will not be filed, but if there is one, I have a 3 page long file of lawsuits filed against this company for illegal collection practices!
