They threatened to DESTROY my wedding video

Shops, Products, Services

These people from the sales reps to the owner/managers and owners are total creeps. They are total slimebuckets and bullies. The are the only vendor from my wedding that I have a complaint about; their work is substandard and their business pratices are outrageous. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!

The story...

My friend suggested that I use Photovideo network to videotape my wedding because of their prices. A sales rep came to my house in Brooklyn, New York to meet with my fiancee and me. He came when it was convient for us.

The sales rep showed us videos and told us that we could get the base package that included DVD's and basic editing of our wedding video for under $700. The rep told us that we would have to view the video before the final edit; the office was very user friendly they will mail the video to us to review and we select the clips that we like and send them music so they can set the video to music. He showed us the video package we would get on the internet.

We signed the contract and paid the deposit. The representive told us that the contract was only to secure the videographer for the day. We read what appeared to be the one page contract and there was about four sentences at the bottom of the contract in light grey type where it spoke generally about their obligations to the customer. The rep held the duplicate form contract on his clip board while we were signing which led us to believe that it was only that one side.

After we signed the contract the rep starts talking to us and tells us how he use to be a member of the mob and served and extended jail term. (They say jail is suppose to be for rehabilitation. But we should have known then)

A month before the wedding the we paid the balance.

On day of our October wedding the videographer came to the wedding, he was on time and appeared to be taking video of what was happening.

The Nightmare begins here...

We thought it would be a good idea to have copies video draft and photos for the holiday season so I contacted the photogapher (he was awesome and not related to to Photovideo) and the vidoegrapher to accomidate that. The Photographer got me the photos before Christmas. Photovideo network rudely told me that they had up to three months to prepare the video for my viewing and I should read my contract. I look at the contract and see the back the small type light grey writing covers the entire back page.

I wait the three months and begin calling them to find out when I can view my video. I called several times without a return phone call. When I spoke to the receptionist I am told that I can only speak to one person about viewing the video and he (according to the day) is on vacation. Is out of the office on Fridays, on Mondays. With another customer.

Two months pass, I write a letter saying that I want to view the wedding video. I recieve a voice message saying the video is ready.

I spend the next month calling with the same result described above. I finally speak to the rude manager/owner. I told him to mail me the video I'll view it make comments and mail it back with my comments as discussed with the rep. The manager told me that I would have to come to NJ to their office to view the video, I asked for him to send it and after considerable HEATED back and forth discussion he told me not to tell him how to run his business.

During that discussion he told me was was only entitled to a VHS (videotape - I explained that I don't even have a VCR any more and that the rep told me that they film in digital and don't use tape) and he THREATENED TO DESTROY MY WEDDING VIDEO. He told me it would cost me another $600 to transfer the unedited digital image of my video to DVD. I asked when could I come to New Jersey to see and get my video and I was told only Monday - Thursday from 11-4, no weekends, no nights (despite what it says in the contract.)

My husband took the phone and over the next few weeks worked out an arragement where I would travel the hour to Fairfield, NJ, view the video and they would give me unedited DVD's for an additional $300. I get to fairfield watch the video (nothing special) and I was told that there would be all of these additional expenses, editing, adding photos, adding music - they did not RECALL the conversation with my husband and was forced in to purchasing the basic editing package with DVDs for $800 additional dollars.

They asked me to sign another contract and when I refused they THREATENED to put my wedding video on tape and said that would be all that I would get. When I said that I wanted my video within 1 month they said no it would take weeks; when I said I want the contract to read that they would use best efforts to have it by a date certain - he crossed it out and said they would not do it because of the different editors and the process. I signed the contract.

On my way home, I wanted to be through with them and mailed out a cancelation letter with express mail on THE SAME DAY (in accordinace with the contract). Two days later I got a call from the manager and was told I could not cancel the contract because they had done substanital work on my video. When I asked how was that possible since they couldn't promise me to have the video in month because special process and the back log but it now could be finished in less than a week. The manager claimed because he knew it was important to me. My husband saw how much stress this was causing me and paid the additional $800. They mailed us the videos edited and unedited on DVD and there was nothing special about the editing.

This took almost a full year from the date of our wedding to finalize.
