They charged a tank pick up fee that was not disclosed a fee for the propane left in the tank

We recently converted from a wood stove to propane. We went with Ferrellgas as our tank and propane supplier.

We soon came to find out they were the most expensive. They were also the most difficult to get ahold of.initially we had to call another state. My husband was on hold almost a 1/2 hour at one time. Now they are local, but often we have to leave a message and they aren't real quick to respond.

When they do respond the representatives are very rude. So, we went with another company and requested that Ferrellgas pick up their tank that we were renting. That took at least two weeks and they charged us almost $90 for the pick up and for a small amount of propane left in the tank. Propane we had already paid for. We paid for a full years rental of the tank, we had it for maybe 5 months. We accepted them not refunding that money.

But, we did not accept paying a $90 fee that we were not informed of. It was never verbalized pryer to getting the tank set up and filled. We only received the 'conditions' after the fact and in the mail. Never signed a contract, never knew of this until we canceled.

Every time we called to dispute this we were never allowed to talk to anyone higher up than the person that answered the phone. And the people that answered the phones are well trained to say that's just too bad, pay the bill.

Last phone call I made the gal said 'you were informed' I said 'after the fact, way after the fact'. She Stepford Wife-like said 'is there anything else I can do for you'? I was very frustrated and tired of being treated so rudely I said a bad thing as far as what she could do... And hung up... My bad.

Anyway, I spoke with an attorney that said what Ferrellgas did was totally illegal and it was fraud. But, my only recourse was going to go to small claims court. The attorney said if it was him he wouldn't pay the bill. Well, I didn't want to go to small claims court and I didn't want Ferrellgas to send us to collections and have that affect our credit report, so I paid them. But, I'm angry. I did file a complaint with the Attorney General's office in Washington.

I advise anyone to stay away from that company.
