Charges "final balance" twice, doesn't respond to letters or calls, nationwide

We changed propane companies when we found out that Ferrellgas was charging $. 90 more per gallon than other companies in our area. I called to cancel and requested a final balance so I could pay. The service representative told me the amount, and said a final invoice would be sent. Several days later I received the invoice (it stated that it was the final balance) and paid the it. Two weeks later, I received another invoice for a final balance - this one a few cents different than the first.

I contacted Ferrellgas by both phone and mail several times. As another report on here mentioned, the phone representatives did nothing more than insist that I owed the balance. One of them said the balance was for "tank removal" but nowhere else did it state that we were responsible for tank removal. My written correspondence was completely ignored.

I have refused to pay this balance, and they have now sent the account to collections.

It is hard to believe that a company would be so purposefully obstructionist and send someone to collections over such a small amount of money. It has to be costing them way more to deal with the collections company than this small balance is worth, but they just seem to have a company policy of nickel & dime-ing customers to death. They should have just admitted that the customer service rep made a mistake.

Because of their extremely poor customer service, I can not recommend Ferrellgas to anyone.
