Early Cancellation Fee After Replacement Box Extended Contract

In October I could not get reception on my TV. I called Direct TV and was told that my reception box was faulty and that they would send me a replacement. They did not inform me that by receiving this replacement I would be extending my contract for 2 years. If they had, I never would have accepted the box, because I knew that I would be moving in December.

When I called them to discontinue my service, I was told to return the box, which I did, and was told that I would be charged a $73.42 early cancellation fee. I told them that, since I was never informed about that and was not given the option, I would not pay it. After I wrote to them many times and got no response, they turned this matter over to a collection agency.
