Pool Thing
Horrible product and costumer service

I purchased a Pool Thing chlorinator for my pool in 2005. The chlorinator worked for about three months before it just stopped. I had to remove the chlorinator and bring it to Pool Thing for repairs. This was during the summer months. After repeated phone calls, I could not get the status of my unit. It took Pool Thing three months to repair the unit. They said it was due to a backorder of circuit boards. During this time I had to sanitize my pool for those three months with other chemicals that I was not reimbursed for. Six months later, the chlorinator stopped working again. I again had to remove the unit and bring it in for service. Since I was into year two of ownership, I had to pay to get it repaired. Should the unit work for more than a year and a half without getting it repaired twice? I paid the $120.00 bill just to get my unit back. As of this writing (March 24th) my unit has again stopped functioning. I have called repeatedly for the last two weeks and received no response so I called again today. I spoke with the administrative assistant who told me that there was nothing that they could do. I could bring my unit back in for repairs at the three year prorated cost structure. I asked to speak with the owner but was told that he doesn't speak with customers. I am finally frustrated enough to write this comment. I now have to purchase a new chlorinator from a reputable company for another $1200. This company's customer service is deplorable and their product is shoddy at best. My next stop will be the Better Business Bureau to report them there.
