A while back I recieved a call from a Mr. Addler claiming to be an attorny looking for my son. When I asked him what it was regarding he said he could not tell me because it was a criminal matter and since my son was in Prison wanted his attorney to call him. I had his attorny call him but he later called me and informed me that he was going to be fileing felony criminal charges against my son and even habitual charges that would land him in prison for many years if i did not pay this money he said was owed. I asked him what is was for He said he couldnt tell me but that he had papers ready to file the criminal charges if not paid. Asked him for papers stateing the amount and what it was for and he said they dont send those out. I told him I would send him a money order but he wanted either western union of money gram only. It was only after I paid him that I found out he was a collection agency and did not have the athrouity to file criminal charges and it was only a civil matter. I feel like he misrepresented himself. Even though its a law firm he only deals in collections not criminal. Also found out he has been sued for violating the unfair debt collections act. I feel he needs there needs to be something done about this "law firm" and its unfair practices and deception. I wish I had done more research before paying him anything.
