Made to believe I was actually signing up for a postal exam

Shops, Products, Services

I responded to an ad on Feb 4 in our local newspaper That reads "POST OFFICE NOW HIRING. Average pay $20/hr or $57,000 annually including federal benefits and OT, paid training, vacations-FT/PT. Being the human that I am, I read it as the united states postal service had posted the ad. I called the number in the ad and was told that my exam study materials and exam times would be sent to me after I paid $129.45. Here it is Mar 4 (a month later) and I'm just being informed that this company has absolutely no affiliation with usps at all.

I'm very upset and disappointed about this. Here I am studying this d@#$ book waiting for a testing time with usps to become available and they have no idea I'm even interested in working for them. I have 4 children and I can't afford to wait for a good job, let alone pay for a study book for a test that I know I can pass with flying colors on my own. I was led to believe that it was necessary for me to purchase these materials to even qualify for an actual exam.

When I called the number for us work alliance, first they couldn't even find my info, I was told that the supervisor I had requested to speak with leaves at 10 PM. It just happened to be 10:05 PM. The lady on the phone kept asking me "did anyone ever TELL you that we were affiliated with usps?" Well NO, but they sure know how to make you believe they are! I was never clearly told that they were Not with usps! I was told that I would receive dates and times for an actual exam, which I never received.

I plan to go to the REAL postal service tomorrow and take a FREE exam for employment with them.in the meantime, I can only imagine how hard it's going to be to get my money back from the fake postal service!
