OAN Via phone number scam

A charge appeared twice on my Verizon phone bill to the number 101-515-8000 at days and times when no one was home. A fee of $7.50 was charged both times. It was months before I caught the false charges.

While Verizon credited my bill for a single charge, they told me they HAD to pay the OAN charges because I had authorized the OAN carrier to do so. This is a complete lie. I have never authorized this company, nor have I used their services.

I did my investigation of the phone number, and when Googled, 5 pages worth of scam literature are available with reference to this phone number, dating back at least two years.

Furthermore, OAN does not disclose any sort of physical address onto the Verizon bill they so easily billed through, and the web address they provide, www.oanweb.com, appears not to be for a phone company at all, but a mortgage and loan institution.

I am insulted at OAN's outrageous and fraudulent tactics, however, I am ENRAGED at Verizon for not flagging this company and this phone number sooner, to avoid its loyal customers falling prey to such a scam.

A Verizon senior supervisor told me there was nothing they could do to help me!
If the FCC won't take care of us, Verizon certainly should look out for those who pay their fees month after month. I have thus far spent a minimum of two hours researching, holding and communicating my frustrations and angst over this scam, to seemingly no avail.

Someone needs to stop OAN, wake up the FCC, and hold Verizon and other carriers liable for these charges... Not the unassuming customer.
