Spaziano, Rip-Off, Liar, Cheat Takes Your Money, Never Does Work then gets insulted when you call him on his game

I contacted Reliable Remodelers on the Web to find a contractor to give me a bid for new counter tops and cupboards. They told me that 3 contractors would contact me. The second one that called was Peter Spaziano, proprietor of Mid Florida Contracting who told me he could beat anybody's price and could meet with me the next day.

When he came to my house and measured, he presented me with a detailed contract, a good price, his credentials including his tax license copy, FL DL. The job for custom countertop, breakfast bar and 3 additional cabinets was to be $2500.00 which I considered a good price. I gave him a $300.00 deposit and asked him to return in 12 days to remove a panel on the end of the counter before the flooring people came and he assured me it was no problem and he would be there. This transaction took place on January 12. The following day he cashed my check which he insisted be made out to him rather than his company. He explained he could do this work at a better price if he didn't have to give it all to Uncle Sam and added "Oh, I pay taxes, we all should pay taxes but not as much as is asked" He insinuated he would have to charge me much more if I made the check out to his company so I reluctantly agreed.

The job was to be done on Feb 8th but he had 2 weeks to do the one little thing before the flooring people came. When he did not show up as promised the day before I called him and he said a helper would be there sometime that day; not to worry.By 4pm I was really concerned and called again. He said his helper Billy could not be reached as he only had a beeper. Are there any beeper companies any more? I don't think so. The next day I phoned him and said I don't feel comfortable about a contractor that can't do a simple job with two weeks notice and cancelled. When I asked if he was going to return my deposit he got real incensed and said "Mam, I'm a working man and don't need to steal your money. I'll have a check in the mail on Fri. Or Mon. The following Wed I called and he said the check got stuck in the mailbox and I should have it in a couple days. Now I knew he was a liar with that story. Today is Saturday, Feb 3 and he cannot be contacted because his mailbox is full and he will not answer his phone, obviously because he has caller ID. Kiss your hard earned dollars away if you ever do business with this guy.
