Wanted to have a playset installed. Went to home depot talked to a female at the service desk. Stated oh yeah we install playsets. Then she stated if you are going to do alot of projects you may want to get the home improvement line of credit. Did the application, was approved. We then told her this is the playset we want installed how do we go about doing so. She told us to call the home depot 1800 number and they will take care of everything. Sat on the phone pressing different numbers just to be placed on hold waiting for an operator. The operator comes on and what do you know. They dont install playsets. Told the girl frustrated by this point, "You need to know what your are talking about before you open your mouth". While we were on the phone a gentlemen was sitting listening to our conversation and made a smart remark saying yeah we don't do that but if you need any electrical work done we do do that. So off to LOWES we had to go.

SHED
At home depot wrote down a shed we wanted. Went into the store. Of course had to call another number the local store does not handle that. Asked instead of going through all that could we buy one of the demos out on the lot. Was told no! So we called the shed people was told it would be installed by a certain time and of course it wasn't. They did a partial charge and the remainder of the balance would be when the job was completed. Received a call about scheduling a date. Called the shed people and was told they could not see past a certain date so we had to call back. My husband asked well why did you all call if you could not give us a date. Well got the run around about the weather, the builders, and the date. My husband finally said just put me down for a date that would be around two weeks away. Oh no we cant do that we dont know if we have people in that area blah blah blah. So he finally said you all need to cancel this order and refund us our money. We then received a call the next day, was given a date, and to also let us know that if this date was not good the home depot in your immediate area HAS A DEMO THAT YOU CAN BUY OFF THE LOT. It is discounted and you would have to arrange delivery. Well my husband was floored, kept his calm, and just made the date. Called home depot to tell them once again if your customer service people dont know what they are talking about they need to ask a manager and if a manager doesn't know they need to call the companies they refer their customers too. When we went into the store we asked could we buy the demo and with confidence in her knowledge of home depots policies was told no. The manager states well I apologize for any inconvience this may have caused. We will be sure to look into this and not letting this happen in the future. No we will send you a free gift certificate or money off your next installation service or estimate nothing. Not even a follow-up to see if everything was okay.

Later seeing that we had this line of credit. We decided to have a deck, new door, and fence put up. Everything was orded in July two months before my husband was to deploy. Was told by each individual all would be done by September. We get a call in August about the door stating that they can't install the door for a WHOLE MONTH AND AND A HALF. WE WERE BEING CHARGED TO HAVE THEM REMOVE AND REPLACE THE STORM DOOR! My husband called the contractor made an agreement the door would get done in June when he came back so he could remove and install the storm door hisself. Received a call in September from home depot after my husband had deployed saying they could not do that I had to come get the door or they would have it delivered and they would charge us for it. Being that it was a special order Amanda said we could not cancel the contract. So I made an appointment with the contractor to come. Took the day off so I would be up and ready for the installers. No installers. Called home depot to find out what is going on. The contractor set it for a different date! The home depot people Diane? And Mark Sugarman took the contractors word for everything and pratically said I was a liar. Even tried to say the contractor called and talk to me with in the week. So I finally told him I was making a report to usacomplaints.com. He then said he would cancel the order and refund my money less the money they charge in order to have the contractor come out to look at the door and tell us yeah you have a standard door even though we told home depot the house was built in 2005. So I guess its off to LOWES again.

THE DECK!
We were told the deck would be installed before my husband left as well. Signed paperwork and home depot even put a hold on our credit card. My husband had to do some running around about getting surveys and the contractor needed to get permits and such. Received the package in the mail. Called at the end of the September wondering why hasnt anyone called to set the date. Of course had to call the 1800 number for home depot because the local store didnt handle that. Finally had to tell the people at the 1800 number if they are not out by the following week than cancel the contract. It was done. The deck was to have lights on the steps with a timer that were not put on. Tell me why home depot hasn't called or adjusted the amount they charged us for the deck. Haven't even made a follow-up call to see if I was satisfied.

THE FENCE!
Well the fence was finished.in two days at that. The guys even though they did a good job they started building to close to the deck so when they put the pickets up they reversed them. Sloppy. When I saw it I told my husband he needs to call them and tell them to fix it. The Fence Company told him there was nothing they could do. Wrong. They needed to fix it correctly. Well while waiting for a phone call that was never coming, the latch broke on the gate. Had to call the 1800 because of course once again the local store did not handle it. Was given the run around about when why and how they would come out to fix the latch and was rudely told by the fence company your husband signed the contract saying he was satisfied so they are not gonna come back out. I told her I was the homeowner as well and I was not satisfied and that is why he called back. Told her I would call my credit card company and dispute the charge. She then said my husband signed the contract and that the job was done nothing you say will hold up in court. WOW what customer service. After making a few calls to home depot I received a call back stating that they would fix the pickets. They came out finally covered up the mess and was gone.

To the buyer beware. Your best bet if you need any installation that you can't do yourself, go straight to the contractor. The home depot charges you to send people out just to tell you something you all ready know or have told them. After that they wash there hands of the situation. The contractor is always right and the customer is always a liar. Home depot is there for absolutely nothing. They act as if they are giving you good customer service and that the people they contract out are trustworthy and reliable. The people they contract out talk crap to you, tell you what they are not gonna do, and even will tell you they are too busy to deal with you. Was even told go a head and call home depot they cant make us do anything. So what does that tell me as a customer of home depot when the people they send to your home talks crap about them too. WELL OFF TO LOWES.
