Jobfinders International (now Wellington Burke Ltd.)
They completely MISREPRESENTED themselves

Shops, Products, Services

When I go to the dry cleaners and bring them a pair of pants, I expect when I return, they will hand me the pair of pants cleaned and I will pay them. This is clearly implied.

If when I return, I pay them the money, then they hand me the pants back still uncleaned, and hand me a page with directions on how to clean the pants myself—then this is misrepresentation, deceipt and fraud.

Such was my experience with Jobfinders International (now Wellington Burke Ltd.)

Ron Lawrence of Wellington Burke Ltd. Has had no choice but to respond to the experiences of myself and others.in those responses he has done two things.

1. He has finally made clear the true nature of his company's services. That they provide advice on getting a job. That they put together a job search campaign plan. And nothing more.

2.instead of having the integrity of admitting that his company had previously engaged in misrepresentation and deceipt... He attacks those who wished to alert others to their experience.

Ron says about me: "he formed his opinion without becoming a client—wherein he would have been given the facts so that he would not have to guess at the service we provide."

When an introductory letter from his company says:
"Our committee has reviewed your resume and feel you should speak with..." "your profile matches one or more of the approximately 1,110 openings that have been posted with us" "we have such a tremendous demand out of the San Fernando Valley area."

When in a 45-minute meeting with their Senior Vice President: the only thing I hear is about their company's abundance of jobs available, their incredible business contacts and how lucky I am that they want to represent me...

When in a follow-up leter they state:
"We currently have a tremendous backlog of executive and professional job opportunities posted with our firm, and I felt confident in reviewing your background that one of these, or one of the new jobs being posted with us almost daily, would be a great fit for you" "Our staff contacts companies continuously to find the highest quality openings for our clients in the unpublished market. The response by these companies has been outstanding. We currently have over 1,500 well paying, stable positions as: CEO, President, VP, GM..."

There is a clear implication here that Jobfinders has executive jobs available now exclusively for their clients.

What was implied was: I pay them $6000. And they get me a job.

But Ron now says, "he formed his opinion without becoming a client—wherein he would have been given the facts so that he would not have to guess at the service we provide."

In other words, this is all my fault. Had I paid them $6000. And signed a contract, it was only then that I would have been "given the facts" and I would no longer have to guess at the services they provide.

Apparently, until that moment comes, they have the absolute right to say anything, misrepresent themselves and engage in wholesale deception.

Had you presented the true nature of the services your company provides in your original letter to me, that would have been the end of the discussion.

Had your Senior Vice-President presented the true nature of the services your company provides in the meeting with me, that would have been surely the end of the discussion.

Had you presented the true nature of the services your company provides in the follow-up letter to me, that would have been absolutely the end of the discussion.

But you didn't.

Even large multinational corporations have to come out sometimes and say, "folks, we did not conduct business in an ethical manner. But now we are going to change the way we did things and we want to take care of anybody that was hurt."

From your responses, you are not ready to do the right thing.

So Ron, I am taking my dry cleaning elsewhere and will continue to advise people to do the same.
