Moving Company Ripoff They demand 125% more money than the quote or they will leave with my furniture still on the truck

I gave this company an itemized list of my furnishings from my two bedroom apartment. I have moved many times and it has never taken more than 5 hours to move my furnishings. So when they gave me a quote of $540 for five hours of work using 2 men it seemed to me to be fair.

The nightmare began on the day of the move when I received a call that they were sending 3 men instead of 2. They arrived at 8:00 A.M. With one experienced man (the driver) and two men with no experience. They didn't have a ramp on the truck only a lift gate. The driver began teaching the other two how to carry furniture. I had most of my things boxed so they could stack it up on a dolly and wheel it onto the truck ramp. With no ramp the boxes were lifted one by one onto the truck. The truck bed was so high no one could get on the truck except the driver. While the driver was packing everything on the truck the other two were waiting for him to tell them what to do.

The loading took 4.5 hours twice as long as what it should have. When the driver got to my new residence he didn't park the truck right so everything could be unloaded quickly. One of the men said he had diabetes and felt dizzy and asked for something sweet to eat. At 5:00 P.M. That afternoon they still were'nt finished unloading the truck. The driver came to me with his bill of $1,200. I told him I didn't have $1,200. He stormed out of my house and told the other two men to get in the truck and started leaving with my furniture still on the truck. I ran out to stop them and asked where they were going. They said they were going to lock up my furniture until I paid them $1,200. This company is dishonest and doesn't care about making their customers happy. I will never use them again and I am writing this report to warn others to beware of the dishonest tactics of this company so they don't rip you off like they ripped me off.
