Moving Company Ripoff! Unprofessional service damaged property disingenious help character assasination and plain lying about events that took place

Contracted with this moving company on May 5th to move me on May 27th. We were guaranteed a 4 man crew of movers. We asked for early arrival of the movers. I was told they would be there around 8am, but no later than 10am. They arrived at 11am, only after calling at 10am to let us know they were an hour away and only received our moving contract that day.

The movers clearly were not professional movers, but someone just hired apparently off the street. They seemily could not read what was written on boxes, like "fragile" or "put on top", etc. They did not understand verbal instructions given to them by me on how to take apart a sofabed, and instead started disassembling it with incorrect tools, damaging the veneer. We provided 15 rolls of packing tape, they used all of that and yet charged us for $200.00 more tape and other packing materials. We we guaranteed free wrapping of furniture of all funiture using furniture pads. It took the 4 man team to load our 2 bedroom townhouse partial furniture and 50 boxes 2 and 1/2 hours. (A previous 2 man team of professional movers we had used took on 2 hours)

Upon arrival at our new home. The movers took 2 and 1/2 hours to move us in. They were unable to move a large armiore upstairs into the living quarters and managed to punch 1 3"x3" hole into the stairwell wall as well as 4 or 5 smaller holes moving it up and down the stairs. They also damaged the ceiling by scraping it with the furniture. We later found that numerous items of our furniture had been damaged, beyond repair. Large chips have been knocked out of end tables, out of the bed, large gashes and scrapes into our desk. We did not notice this until after the movers had left, (except the large hole) we also found two large piles of moving materials hidden in a corner of the building downstairs. We had given the movers a tip for working so "hard" to get us moved. We were totally fooled by their efforts. We would have noticed things earlier, but we simply wanted them out of our way, because we needed to go back to the old house to collect our pets.

Now, upon reporting this to the moving company, at first they seemed, very caring and concerned. They wanted me to document everything and would let me know what the wanted me to do. They directed me to their Claims Management department, which I found is another company in Arizona that is an insurance company. I documented everything for them and sent both the moving company and the claims management company a packet of 39 pages of pictures, inventory, and documented damage. Their response was that it would take up to 90 days to resolve my claim. It did'nt take their movers 90 days to do the damage.

Since I have complained, they basically have said tough luck, so, I have went to my visa company and filed a grievance, went to the Better Business Bureau and filed a grievance, I have also told them that if they do not settle this in 30 days I will file a small claims lawsuit in my county. Now the claims management company and sent me a letter willing to settle up for $354.00, which I am willing to accept. However, the moving company has now reponded that I am trying to "extort" money from them. I am not trying to extort anything, I just want compensation for the damage the representatives of this company did. I feel this is character assasination and makes me want to pursue that aspect of legal action.
