Privacy Matters
Freecreditreport.com misleading, promising, easily accessible, "results within minutes"

My 20 yr old son had applied for a visa application to have some dental work done and was denied. Not knowing why he was turned down since he had never had any credit cards before, he asked me if I would see if I could do a "free" credit report for him on my computer.

The company I chose was Privacy Matters and after filling out all of his information I was told I would have the report in a matter of minutes. Well I waited and waited and it never did come. I was taken to another of their pages of advertisments and so I tried again and kept being taken around in circles. Then I got a message that read, "the page you requested cannnot be found, please verify thata the URL you are looking for is accurate and complete. So I went back and did it all over and the got this message, " for the protection of your personal records we cannot provide instand delivery of your report, please contact customer care.

OK, this was ridiculous, you were supposed to get a credit report in a matter of minutes and all I was getting was a huge run around. So I called my son, knowing full well they would not give me any information since I was not him, and gave him the number to call customer service. He tried every day after work for a week and never did get a hold of anybody. I have now been charged for a report we never did get and I have not been able to get a hold of anybody to cancel my "account" so I am not charged each month for this "service". We have come to the conclusion this is a huge scam.
