Ripoff Didn't provide service after selling their cell towers to T-Mobile Then insisting on billing me with no service provided

I had cell phone service with Pacific Bell, who then sold it or renamed it as Cingular. After some time, Cingular sold roughly half of their cell towers to T-Mobile in return for T-Mobile doing the same for Cingular in New York, letting both companies expand their coverage.

Once Cingular did that, I suddendly had no service at all anywhere near my home where I always used it previously. They refused to respond to complaints. Even their sales office near me had no service at all, and was unable to get their company to do anything about it.

I was in the 2nd year of a two year contract, which I refused to pay for any further as I had no service. I was unable to get them to understand why even though I called and wrote them. Eventually they turned it over to a collection agency in Texas — Plano I think. A computer calls me periodically bugging me to pay, even though I notified them in writing to cease contacting me about it.

Worse still, they have put a notice on my credit report claiming I owe them $300.00 — but I don't care if it's only for $0.03 I won't pay this company a dime — they are an awful company to do business with. Even the local newspaper action line said they had the worst customer service of anywhere, and they had received thousands of complaints about them.

Incidentally after cancelling with Cingular, I started service with T-Mobile, who had a very strong signal near my home, and which has been a good company to do business with. Obviously the cell tower near me was one that Cingular sold to T-Mobile.
