I am soooo glad I found this site. I'm furious and don't know where to go next. I'll make this long story short.
I have a family plan with two phones. I've been with Verizon for about 5 months. One phone belongs to my son who lives across the country at an Air Force base. He dropped his new camera phone in a glass of water. When I signed up for this plan, I got two camera phones at $100 ea plus a $50 rebate on each one. After speaking to about 10 different reps trying to replace this phone for him and being told one thing then another, I finally got to what was supposed to be a higher up. I was told this phone cost $239 unless I signed a new contract. If I did that, it was a mere $179. Here is the kicker. After I finally agreed to renew my contract to get the bargain price of $179 and arranged for shipping to NM, I get a voice mail at my home 2 days later. Seems that until you are a Verizon customer for 6 months, you can't replace a phone. I cannot pay them $179 for a new phone. I do not qualify for a replacement phone. I'm not asking for free, I'm paying for this and they wont sell me one. Now I have this contract that I'm hooked into and no phone. If I would like to cancel the contract, it will cost me $175 ea. But, they wont sell me a phone. I asked him what he recommended I do then. He really didn't have a suggestion. How did these people get so big? This is Verizon policy? That has to be about the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Verizon has great coverage in my area, but customer service is horrible. As long as you don't have a problem, you'll be happy.
