Calypso Washer Stopped Cleaning Clothes After One Year

I bought a Kenmore Elite washing machine with Calypso wash motion one year ago and it stopped washing clothes. The first few months were fine, then I noticed a black gooey substance that stained my clothes and sheets. Although the black stuff went away, my clothes are not getting cleaned at all!

I called Sears and they told me they couldn't do anything except sell me an extended warranty - Why would I want to but a warranty when the machine can't be fixed?

The problem lies with the manufacturer - they are just made wrong. Even though there has been a class action lawsuit filed against Kenmore for this particular make and model they told me I could not trade in my washer for a working one or receive any sort of reimbursement - I just want a washer that really washes clothes!!!
