Unauthorized charges to check card ripoff

I rented a laptop from Rentway on 1/27/06. I asked the employee, Eric, about making payments over the phone since I am disabled and cannot get to the store on my own.

He said it can be done by signing a form authorizing them to accepting the payment. He took an imprint of the card stating that they had to have it on file to verify the card number when I called in.

The next payment was not due until 2/4/06. I had decided to return the item on that day. I found out that on the day before they went ahead and charged the weekly payment without my knowledge of them doing it.

DO NOT give Rentway authorization to make payments over the phone or could end up paying for a rental you might no longer want.
