HUGE WARNING—do not buy these products!

This company is running a scam! My mom bought some for her granddaughter and didn't realize they enrolled her in the "Clear Skin Club." They started sending kits to her and charging her card without her knowledge. She called them on three different occasions asking them to cancel her membership but they said they wouldn't cancel it with just a phone call and she would have to send the boxes back in order for them to cancel her membership (which is a complete lie according to their website). They sent her 17 shipments over a two and a half year period!!! Seventeen!!! That's over $1,000 worth of product.

My mom is in her 70s and twice widowed and a really honest, sweet, trusting and naive person. She is from a different generation and hasn't had any experience with an infomercial company like this or automatic membership enrollment. She finally told me the story (she'd been ashamed that she got conned) and had tears in her eyes.

I called Proactiv and explained the situation. They said the products were more than 60 days old and were now expired (right!) and they absolutely would not give her a refund. When I told them that my mom had TRIED to call and cancel three times many months earlier but their customer service told her she couldn't cancel by just calling they said that they had no record of that and that they contract out their call center work so sometimes the people who are representing them might not know the rules of the program exactly.in other words, "too bad, so sad."

I talked to three people at Proactiv (also management) and none of them would budge. I feel like they got away with stealing $1,000 from an elderly widow on a fixed income. Needless to say, this shady company sucks and I think their products are less than mediocre (I've used them myself).
