Sprint
Sprint/nextel - ripped me off of hundreds of dollars and replaced a defective phone with another defective phone

Shops, Products, Services

When I signed up with Sprint in January of 1999 in Seattle, WA from a flyer. I met with a Sprint representative listed on the flyer and signed a 2-year contract. They started out as an honest company. Note: while in Washington I had no problems with my service, customer service, or phone nor billings.

I relocated to Scottsdale in 2001. A month after arriving, I checked my phone usage and at the same time I would check my online bill. When I viewed my statement it showed I owed roaming services, which was blocked, late fees and misc. Fees, I was in disbelief.

When I called customer service to get the problem resolved and explained I had paid a month in advance and roaming was blocked, they argued, and basically told me to jump in the lake, very rude and disrespectful.

According to "Customer Service" there was no record of the payment, and unfortunately my belongings and paper work, files etc. Were on their way here from Seattle, bottom line I had no proof of payment with me.

My Sprint service, has been going down hill since and there is no customer service, that is a joke, and when you ask for a supervisor they hand the phone to the employee next to them and your wait time to get threw to customer service is anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. The phone call is a waste of time and if you ask for their Corporate phone number and address they have none.

Anyway, either I pay or they cut my phone off.in addition, I got some kind of crap about charges for moving out of Washington to Arizona and according to customer service my $200 phone which was 1 year old no longer had the capabilities it needed for the required service in this area because it was a single band, not a double band. However, I was told the only time you needed a double band or tri band was to have the ability to call Europe. I had no reason to call out of the states which is why I bought the phone I had and by the way, that phone worked beautifully until I went across state lines.

Believing I was talking to honest professionals, they convinced me it was my phone and it needed to be replaced and so they replaced it with a cheap phone that worked for about 6 months then it started having major problems. They keep replacing one cheap phone with another cheap phone. I replaced the cheap phone every 6 months and currently get replacement phones with cheaper replacement phones than the cheap phones I had before. The longer you're with Sprint, the cheaper the phones get.

When I get tired of the run-around, I write to the Attorney General's Office and finally get a call from someone who says they are in Corporate which I do not believe. Of course, they always say, we don't want to loose you as a customer so what can we do to keep you? Well, how about charging what I owe and removing charges I don't owe and giving me a phone that is equal to the phone I originally bought for over $200.

They always agree to remove the extra charges I don't owe and send me a phone that works, however the phone replacement is a $30 phone that has defaults that reset themselves, burn my ears after 20 min on the phone, automatically unlocks blocking, and text messaging etc. I reset to my specs but 5 min later it resets itself.

I have called and complained about the phone and was told to go to the Sprint store. I went to the store, where the young kids working there claim there is nothing wrong with the phone... Hummm!

In addition, all the charges that were reversed have been conveniently added back into my bill. They even cut my service off because I refused to pay for something I didn't owe. I am still trying to get those charges reversed again, and a phone that works without paying out of pocket for a phone that may work.

I am not impressed with the new phones they offer as they force people to have phones with Internet, text messaging, and other tools I don't use and will never use. I am thoroughly disgusted with all the cellular phone companies. They all seem to be singing the same song. The new phones are geared to make more money than the monthly fee by designing them for internet, and text messaging.

Why is the Local and US Government allowing these kinds of Corporate practices? Do they get a kick back for closing their eyes? Doesn't our government make enough money off the people without helping Corporations by allowing them to rip us off to? What do you think?

We all have to keep complaining to the our local and US Officials until these problems are resolved and we live in an honest society again. If the government would impose hefty finds on these Corporations for misrepresentation and dishonest practices they would stop ripping us off and do business the way business should be done.

How do they all sleep at night?
