Ripoff, bad customer care, unresponsive, fraudulent

I originally signed up with Vonage back in May of this year. It took them over 4 months to transfer my phone number from SBC. I finally got tired of waiting (and paying two phone bills at the same time) so I cancelled with Vonage, however little did I know (and they did not tell me) that they had just transferred my number.

So in late August my SBC service cancelled automatically and I had cancelled with Vonage already. I was left without any phone service in my home. I was furious. It took me a week of calling back and forth to figure out that Vonage now owned my home phone number. So I had to then reinstate service with Vonage in order to have a live phone line so that SBC could winback my phone number from Vonage. I have been waiting for that to happen since the end of August.

I have called a both Vonage and SBC a million times with no success. SBC says that they have made requests of Vonage over and over again but that Vonage does not respond to their phone calls or emails. I filed a complaint with the FCC the other day. I don't know how to get my phone number back. Vonage also has very poor service quality. Phone calls routinely drop out while I am talking to someone - suddenly they cannot hear me. This is really irritating. Also, when I call Vonage customer service, they put me on hold forever and never let me speak to a supervisor and they never respond to my concerns.

So my boyfriend and I have to use our cell phones all the time and we continually go over our minutes which has cost us more money. I am going to cancel my Vonage service by simply cancelling my bank card since I have learned from this website that simply cancelling with vonage is not enough. Then I will have to get a new phone number with SBC. My boyfriend and I both have businesses and we have both lost business because of this mess. I would like to sue Vonage and I hope someone files a class-action lawsuit soon.
