Ripoff deceptive billing practices

Cingular Wireless is hiding charges on their bill. I received a statement with a late payment charge. I was going to let it go but after looking over the bill, realized there was no due date printed anywhere on the bill. All the bill says is, "Due upon receipt". That's when my red flags went up and I decided to call to find out exactly when they begin charging interest and considering my bill to be past due.

After being transferred twice the man on the end of the other line informed me that they begin charging interest the last day of my billing cycle. No where on the bill does it say that. No where on the bill does it indicate a late payment will even be charged, let alone how much. I was one day late and they charged me a late payment of $1.13. If I had forgotten to pay the bill a month, that would be over $30.00! When I told him that I felt that that was deceptive, he agreed with me and said Cingular had, had discussions about that but the corporate execs wern't doing anything about it. Wonder why? Could it be that by deceiving the public by not including a due date they could rack up a lot of extra money.

It is time to take a stand. Cingular and other wireless companies need to be regulated. The only way it is going to happen is if we become pro-active and make our legislature pass bills to protect the consumer NOT the corporations! Wireless companies can do whatever they want and do! Read the consumer complaintss! If you are unhappy with your cellular service, they could care less. You are bound by a contract and will be expected to pay horrendous fees to get out.

I told the guy on the phone I was going to call my State Attorney General. You should too. If everyone writing these complaints about Cingular would be pro-active maybe somebody would finally do something about the criminal and deceptive business practices of Cingular and other wireless companies.
