Verizon Wireless
Took Payments Then Sent Them Back to Bank Ripoff

Shops, Products, Services

Let me start by saying that I have been with Verizon since June 28,04 and not once have I received a bill for a reasonable total.

My plan was for 400 min., mobile to mobile, and the usual others that are included in most standard phones. I signed a contract for $39 a month for the usuage, $10 for the MTM, and of course all those overpriced taxes. My bill should be somewhere in the $55-$65, but for a person who has never gone over the min.in my plan I have always received a bill for $144 or more a month.
OK someone please inform me if my math is wrong or did I just not go to the VerizonWireless school of finance

On 11/2/04 I paid $75 towards my bill of $144 (not due till the 10th of the month each month) my new balance owed by 11/10 should be $69.

On 11/5/04 I paid $70 to complete the bill.

In Dec. I received a bill for $319 part of this was for Nov.'s bill that was never paid on.

I contacted Verizon in an effort to find out where my payments were going and why were they not credited to my account. I was told that I had used 752 minutes that was not billed to me previously so I need to pay those calls. Remember my bill is due on the 10th of each month and I was not told about the overage minutes until I got my Dec bill.

On 12/4/04 my phone was turned off by Verizon. I had enough of talking to them over the phone about my problems so I went to the local store. I asked to see my detailed bill and found that I was charged for night and weekend minutes, and also for the MTM. They tried to tell me that the number that I was calling was not a Verizon phone. I had my boyfriend with me who was the person with the number. He is a Verizon customer and he also has MTM. They told me that they could credit me for the nights and weekends but not for the MTM, cause my b/f was on another plan. Well DUH! He does not share my plan or minutes.

My bill was reduced to $263. I asked why my phone was turned off and they told me cause my bill was of such an outstanding high for my service plan.

I paid the bill in full using their machine in the store and got a receipt.

On Dec. 28 I got a new bill stating that I owed $263 for Dec and my new bill of $189.

On Dec. 29 I got a letter from my bank saying the funds for the $263 were debited from my account but were sent back to the bank by Verizon and credited back to my account.

Now I owe $452 standard, plus the reconnect fee when they disconnected my phone in Dec., late fees for Dec, and have to pay for the MTM minutes used.

When I go through my bill and subtract all the MTM, nights and weekends I have never used more then 300 min on a plan for 400 min.

Can someone please explain why Verizon would return my payments and charge me for MTM. And the $10 I pay per month for MTM is supposed to be for any call to any other Verizon customer.

It seems that it would be cheaper to pay the $175 to cancel my contract and pay this bill out and go to another company.in the long run I have a feeling if I continue for the next 1 1/2 yrs. Paying these outstanding bills I will pay more then outright paying the cancelation of contract fee.
