I viewed my Verizon bill online yesterday to a very outrageous surprise. My bill for this month was $155.74. It is usually between $35 - $45 at the most.
The following are the dates and times of when I supposedly made phone calls to ENGLAND. The UK number is 442073358468.
Nov 2 8:24AM for 23 minutes = $45.77
Nov 7 5:44AM for 7 minutes = $13.93
Nov 8 5:40AM for 6 minutes = $11.94
Nov 8 10:08AM for 6 minutes = $11.94
Nov 9 6:13AM for 6 minutes = $11.94
Nov 9 10:22AM for 6 minutes = $11.94
Total amount = $117.03 (incl. Tax & surchareges)
I called the number given for USBI and told them that I didn't make any calls to the above number. They told me they would credit the amount to my count within two billing cycles. I went home and told my husband. I still felt uneasy about it and called them back this morning. I asked them how they were crediting the amount when I didn't have an account with them?
The USBI lady was extremely rude and offered no help at all.
After some research on the web I found usacomplaints.com and I am so very grateful that people like me have shared their encounter with USBI here. Thank you so much!!! After I read a few of the reports I called Verizon and asked them to remove the USBI charges from my bill. They happily accomodated my request. (Verizon toll billin service # 1-800-371-4562)
They changed my total to $38.61 for this month. That's quite a difference in price I think. They advised me that USBI could still bill me independently from them. I hope they will not bill me! I will keep you posted.
I called USBI back again for the third time and advised them that they could either drop the charges or I would pursue legal charges against them. The USBI lady just said that the amount was already credited to my account. She still advised me to pay the accrued charges on my bill though. (Which have already been removed from my Verizon bill) She didn't know that though.
We'll see what happens!
