Wedding registry problems

My wife and I opened a wedding registry at the Columbia, MO location. We checked to make sure that the registry was working correctly by inquiring at one of the St. Louis stores. We had no trouble obtaining the registry at that time. We then informed our friends and family that we were registered at Home Depot. Apparently something with the registry system broke down, be it the computer system or the associates, because five people went to four different Home Depot locations and were not able to obtain the registry. We then check at our Home Depot and they were able to pull up our registry with some effort. Because of the inconvenience we encountered with the system, we informed as many friends and family as we could to ignore purchasing anything from Home Depot. I in turn called the 800 customer service line and informed them of the story.

As it turns out one of our gifts is a $100 Home Depot gift card. I have things that I need, registered for, and could easily buy from Home Depot, however out of principle I do not think that any of our wedding gifts should come from Home Depot since they could not handle the gift registry. I went to the store explained the situation and they said that they could not refund our gift card; I called the number again, explained the story and they to said that they could not refund the money. So we have decided that after the gift card is used we are not going to shop at Home Depot store unless an emergency arises and they are the only ones available. The way we see it is that if Home Depot is not willing to refund a purchase with good reason, and to us it is a good reason, than why should we purchase anything from the stores be it a screw or washer and dryer for a new home.
