Storm door refund given as gift card, not card credit

I bought 2 storm doors at Home Depot with my Home Depot credit card. My neighbor returned them to Home Depot for a refund within 1 month, without opening the boxes, because I did not need them. They gave him a gift card without asking me. I do not want or need a gift card. I want them to give me a credit to my Home Depot credit card.

I talked on the phone with Jeremey Votkin at the Home Depot in Bastrop, TX, to get my refund to my Home Depot credit card. He was very rude, yelled at me, hung up on me, and refused to give me a credit to my Home Depot credit card.
