I had rented two movies from them, in August. I do admit they were returned a bit late, which was due to a tragic death in the family. My wife and I left town and as soon as we got back into town I returned the movies. On October 6 I received a letter from a collection agency telling me that I owed Blockbuster $40.00. So I investegated being that they dont charge "late fees" the manager a blockbuster tells me that the movies were returned past the grace period. And I had to purchase the movies. I was stumped, so I asked "what do you mean I have to purchase the movies"? She said "when they are returned late we cant take them back you have to purchase them" Again I was stumped, I couldn't make sense of it. I've been a Blockbuster member for over 5 years and returned movies late before and never had this problem. She told me that this is their policy, I don't remember anyone mentioning this policy to me in the past, was this before or after they had to stop promoting "no late fees" when in fact there were hiddden fees, which they failed to mention and or inform the consumer about. The bottom line they never mentioned that this is Blockbuster policy, and that you would be forced to buy the movies you return late. On top of that they charge TOP dollar for movies that have been out for months.
