Fan club membership for fee rip off

Typical fan club for a fee scammers. This company co founded by David Bowie, they administer fan clubs for bands which you join for a fee and then are supposedly given pre sale opportunity for the event tickets via a "passcode system"

My concert of interest was ACDC, I had to join the fan club for a one time fee of $40. I paid and they informed me of the date and time the pre sale tickets would go on sale. I click on the fan club website to discover the public sale is on at the same time as the supposed "pre sale" fan club opportunity.

This meant, despite my $40 fan club fee, I was actually competing with the general public for tickets.

I opened another browser up and could find "scalped tickets" available while I am still trying to get my passcode to generate me the promised pre sale tickets. The scalping was mentioned on the join up from, and how the fan club (UltraStar) did not approve and would cancel these tickets. Evidently not.

The membership is flawed in my opinion, at join up and payment of 40 bucks you should be given the chance to purchase your tickets right there and then instead of being made to wait until the exact day and time of the public sale and then jostle with the public to the point where no tickets appear and you are out of 40 bucks and a concert.

I have emailed them and they did tell me I was an hour late in forming a passcode, but for a fee of 40 dollars I should have a better and the marketing ploy of this whole passcode thing means nothing then. As I mentioned to them, I could have saved myself 40 bucks, a bunch of time wading thru rubbish spam mail from them in the lead up and just gone on to the public sale site at ticket master.

Their ploy and in this case ACDC have to attach their name to it is misleading, unfortunate and generally leaves a bad taste. I fyou see any band doing this fee for fan club stuff I advise to steer clear.

They (ultrastar) have offered a refund, although they took my money instantly I have to wait 30 days for it back, in my opinion if you take it instantly return it instantly. I will wait and see if the money is forthcoming and infomr here if it does not.
