Deposit Refund

My daughter and I gave a $300 deposit on 3/31 to hold an apartment. However it would not be available to view until 4/6. We were told that if we were unhappy with the living quarters they would refund our deposit at that time. We were not given the oppurtinity to use the 72 hour option to cancel, because the viewing of the apartment went beyond that period of time. They completely misrepresented their position, and we did not receive what we were promised. Under those circumstances, I do not feel obligated to pay anything, and am seeking a full refund of $300. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
