Discriminatory

I inquired about this apartment complex and would qualify under the equity restrictions, but since I was a single full-time student I was not allowed to move there or even apply. I had to be either PT, or FT student ONLY if I was a single mother or was married. When I visited the property to view an apartment, they told me the FT single student was because of the stereotype of college students partying, etc. So being that I could not convince them that I attend a Christian University and studying to become a Substance Abuse Counselor, I called a few months later in April. The 800 number first of all, very nice, but did not know anything - and just told me to call the complex directly, so with that unecessary diversion, I called the complex and then they told me that a single FT student could not live there due to some tax relief program they have but married couples could both be FT students or single mothers can be FT students and that there was that exclusion for being a FT student who also qualified within the min/max income restrictions.

I find this VERY discriminatory and being that they could not give me an exact reasoning for why a single FT student who works FT as well and falls within the income restrictions would be more of a tax burden to the property as opposed to a married couple who is making more combined and more likely spending more each year for their college tuition, interesting I would say. Northern, VA is one of the most expensive areas to live and the income does not always suffice for the cost of living, so I really like the pricing and affordability of this complex, until they basically told me two different stories on students living there, etc. I would really love to hear back from someone or a Real Estate/Rental lawyer on how this can be filed or reported as I feel they are being discriminatory since they could not give me a straight answer on what I needed an answer for. Thanks for reading this - and I'd advise to stay away from this community, they were also not very pleasant and didn't really have very nice apartments. (don't let the outside fool you - inside it pretty out dated)
