Www.ottawa4rent.ca has been buying up properties in Ottawa and converting
Single family homes and basement apartments into student "rooming
Houses".
They recently secretly converted a 4 bedroom single family home into a 8
Bedroom student rental and a 5 bedroom basement apartment that allowed couples.
That's 26 students in the same home.
They did this without applying for a building permit until neighbours expressed concern to the City of Ottawa. Even then they waited until the last minute to get the permits. It is unlikely that they had permits for the other properties they own.
Other properties owned by these owners include 32 Seneca which now has 8 bedrooms and 2 Pansy
Which has been converted into 2 apartments with 5 and 6 bedrooms.
I hope that any students or parents of students that are looking to rent in Ottawa will
Avoid the properties owned by these greedy owners.
