Alessi Construction, LLC / Andrew Alessi
Mold with a side of structural collapse all for the low price of $38,899.30

Real Estate

We hired Alessi Construction (and signed a contract totaling $38,900) for a kitchen remodel as well as flooring and the removal of some load bearing walls. He installed the wood floors without performing the required moisture readings which led to the sub-floor not being prepared properly resulting in a total floor failure encompassing 1,000 sq. Ft. Mold was also discovered under the entire area!

Furthermore, he removed a load bearing wall and installed a glue-lam beam that was not sufficient to withstand the weight resulting in major structural compromise.

Additionally, we are having a hard time figuring out where our money went because we hired our own electricians and plumbers, performed all demo (with the exception of removing the load bearing walls although maybe we should have done that too, the results probably would have been the same), and supplied all insulation, fixtures, appliances, and fixtures. As of now, they have been unable to locate receipts from our job. I want them to prove that our money was actually spent on our house because right now I'm having a hard time believing that. Also, discovered this week that the subcontractor who installed our countertops has not been paid in full yet.

The cost to repair the damages exceeds the original contract amount and he has blamed everything but himself for what has happened. We have had to hire various engineers, mold companies, and contractors in addition to properly supporting the structure with a new beam and purchasing all new flooring, trim, paint, leveler, etc. We have all the documentation and reports from various engineers and professionals to back up the allegations yet, he still will not accept responsibility. I have a feeling this happens way too often when dealing with contractors. There is little protection for the homeowner and attempting to sue is usually not an option when all of your money has to be put back into your home in order to put a roof over your families heads.

He was found guilty by the Louisiana Contractors board this past month and also plead guilty to a separate hearing back in 2006 for an incident unrelated to ours. Currently, he is on probation with the contractors board which means he can still "remodel" homes.

Over the past year our morale and bank accounts have been dwindled to merely nothing. Every weekend and spare minute is spent either repairing our home or working overtime in order to pay someone to repair our home. Our children have been uprooted as the house was unsafe to live in. They just want to go home and we don't have the heart to tell them that right now, we don't have a home. Thank you Andrew Alessi/Alessi Construction for taking our home, our time, our kids college savings, and our security.

I hope I can prevent at least one person from going through what we've been through.
