I have a rental property. The tenants who just moved out had never switched the water bill to their name. I will be in small claims court w / them later this month. My meter is not due to be read until August. So I called to request an unscheduled meter read. "No, we won't do that" I was told. Then she told me that I could look at the meter & tell her what it says & she could tell me the usage & a $ amount. I asked if I could get this in writing to have proof to show the judge. "No, I will not do that" she said. So I asked if I could get it disconnected (for a final bill) & then reconnected. "No, we will not do that" she told me.
Is this for real? I can't believe that this wasn't treated as a simple service request. I was prepared to pay for the extra service.
I didn't realize that it's your policy to allow customer service to dictate whether or not a person can discontinue services & then restart them.
This makes no sense to me at all.
So now my tenants will get away w / 2 free months of water, sewer, & garbage collection that I will have to pay for because the Waterloo Water Works refuses to help a paying customer. Thanks so much.
I would also like to bring to your attention that the customer service rep I talked to was snotty & rude. Even though I was frustrated by her responses, I kept my voice level the whole time. Throughout our whole conversation, including the first moment she spoke to me, she sounded like I was bothering her. She was very, very off-putting & as I can't imagine I'm the only person she's treated so poorly, I'm surprised she still has a job there. It's very disappointing to know you have such low standards for your workers.
