Fraudulent company or just incompetent

On 29 April I had a service technician from Dial-One dispatched to evaluate an air conditioning problem. The technician diagnosed the problem of no cold air as a blown fuse and replaced. On 14 June I had the same problem and a 2nd service request. Technician diagnosed as a faulty compressor. Quote to replace was $2600. Dial-One was the installer of the system in May 1998 with a 10-year warranty. Although the company acknowledged the system may have exhibited signs of failure before the expiration of the warranty, Dial-One would not honor. I had a 2nd opinion from another heating and air conditioning company that concluded the compressor was fine. Technician cleaned some connectors and the system has been running well every since. At the least, Dial-One is incompetent as their misdiagnosis may have cost me thousands of dollars in unnecessary replacement costs. At the worst, they're an unethical company that doesn't honor their agreements.
