Lenscrafters
The Stew Pot & - Misleading the Indigent

Politics & Government

I am an 51 year old indigent. I am really under the under the poverty guidelines. I recently approached the Dallas Stew Pot for help in trying to obtain eye glasses.

After asking me when my eyes were last examined the Case Worker denied my request stating that it had not been long enough. He said that Lenscrafters and lens providers required the indigent not have had an examination for at least two years for them to provide low cost, or no cost lenses.

It was evident that this was meant to screen out just about anyone that needed lenses. My lenses were over a year old and broken. The last exam I had was pretty close to two years, but not.in any case, Lenscrafters and others names were mentioned freely and I walked away with the sense that it was all designed to point me there, but without their providing any help at all.

I believe their approach to and involvement with the low income community in Dallas is misleading; void of substance!
