Living Social
Living Social fraudulent practices and lack of service - woman's Swiss Army Wenger watch

Miscellaneous

If you have been screwed over by Living Social, read on — this may help.
I am skeptical of Internet sales unless I have used a company previously. I had made a small ticket purchase through Living Social so felt comfortable when, in early September, they were bombarding me with tireless promotion, this time for a Swiss Army Wenger watch, which I felt would make a nice gift for my wife's birthday. I have one myself and love it.
Long story short, when the birthday came and went and no watch, I contacted Living Social and was told that the failure was one of their supplier's. I asked about tracking mechanism and the woman handling the call seemed clueless. They wanted me to contact their supplier, at which point I reminded her that it had taken 15 minutes to clear the sale through my credit card, with Living Social, and 15 days later she is trying to get me to call a supplier. She recognized legally and morally her response was disingenuous, and assured me she would call herself and get it resolved.
When I still had received no watch a week later, now about two weeks post-birthday, I called Living Social again, explained all of this to another "customer service" smooth talker feigning concern, and advised that I would halt credit card payment if I had not received the watch or at least received a shipment confirmation, I would contact my credit card company and have the watch charge removed.
She advised that if I pursued that course they would do nothing more for me. I inquired as to how genuinely concerned were they about their own shipping failures, and that a responsible company would want to get answers about that failure and correct it.
My credit card company, which seemed familiar with these kinds of complaints from this kind of non-responsive company, said they would notify Living Social that if the watch was not received in 30 days, the billing would come off for me.
I would obviously rather have the watch, but strongly urge that if you have not dealth with Living Social, don't, and if you do, be prepared to go the credit card cancellation route, it is apparently the only thing that gets a reaction from them, even if it does not get you your purchased product.
