Rude Manage

I have been a patron of Dollar General store in Palatine Bridge for a year now. I enjoy shopping there for cost and convenience and have never had a problem - until today.

I was there with my daughter and her friend. They each put on a pair of slippers, and walked around the store. Then they decided they didn't want them so I put them back. I didn't realize they were dirty at the time.

The manager then came up to me and told me that I had to purchase the items, and I complied. She said, "Those girls put their feet in those slippers and traipsed around the store, so you have to purchase those items." She kept speaking about the issue and I made her aware that I heard her the first time. We continued our shopping.

After this, I saw her go into the back and could hear her talking to another employee about me.

Then we were in a another aisle. I made a comment to my daughter, "Maybe if the floors weren't dirty, the shoes wouldn't have gotten dirty." She walked up to me in a confrontational manner and said, "If you don't want to purchase the slippers you can put everything away and leave." I told her, "I already agreed to buy the slippers, we're almost done here, why don't you just go back to work." She didn't like my comment about getting back to work and said she was going to call the cops if I didn't leave. So I left.

There are a few points I want to make: 1 - I never raised my voice or used profanity. 2 - She confronted me. 3 - Isn't it customary to try something on before buying it? 4 - When I went back to the slipper section to pick up the slippers the girls had been wearing, there were THREE pairs of dirty slippers. I only had two girls with me.

This young lady was rude. I have never in my life been thrown out of a store. I frequent Dollar General on a regular basis, but now I can't shop there any more.
