Ordered slippers 5/302 checkcashed 5/10/02 to date no slippers. Deceptive company false promises

I ordered two pair of slippers on 5/3/02 and check was cashed 5/10/02. When I had not received slippers in June I contacted them. They sent me a catalog and said slippers would be shipped 6/21/02. To date 8/1/02 I have not received slippers and just found that I am not the only one. Why is the company allowed to operate and rip people off?
