Target $5 Gift Card Promotions

On Friday (9/14) I purchased three feminine protection products, Always brand, thinking I would receive a $5 Gift Card in response. Unknowingly, I had selected an Always item not included in the promotion and did not qualify for the gift card. I have been a consistent Target shopper for over ten years years. I am a careful shopper who assesses the value of promotions based on my needs. As such, I took my time choosing the promotional products that day, careful to watch the parameters via signs on the shelves. I found the whole thing very confusing which led to the wrong product choice. I left the store feeling I had been tricked. There are plenty of shopping options for me to consider where I live - box retailers who often have better prices. I stick with Target because I like how the stores are set-up and the product mix, but by no means will I jump through hoops hoping for a positive outcome at the cash register. The $5 dollar promotion will turn me off in the future and I won't forget how hard it was to get it right. This is something Target needs to think out. Does it really want to lose a long-term, household buying customer? I don't think I am the only one seeing confusion on the shelves.
