Miscellaneous

Pretended to be a private courier in a Paypal scheme. Stark picked up the scammed funds as they were wired to Western Union under false pretenses in Starks name.

How scheme worked. Buyer contacted Craigslist seller. Explained to Craigslist seller that he was in the US military and wanted to make purchase but needed seller to assist with arranging shipping. Using falsified Paypal emails, seller buyer convinced seller that money was transferred to sellers account and on hold until seller wired money via western union to shipper. After seller wired money to western union, money was picked up, buyer and shipper disappeared. After contacting Paypal via another route, seller realized the scam. The scam was effective because 1) buyer seemed very authentic and convincing over nearly 50 text messages and 2) emails from Paypal contained all of Paypal graphics and insignias. Looked genuine. This was a true scam operation by at lease 2 people over cell phone, computer, using western union and counterfeit Paypal computer graphics.
