Home Depot Lignt bulbs advertised with a 2,000 hour life are only lasting 300 to 500 hours

We bought a new house 6 1/2 years ago that has 18 recessed indoor flood lights for lighting. None of the bulbs burned out for the first 2 1/2 years. We bought a case of Phillips Indoor Flood lights, BR30,65 watt bulbs that say on the carton that they have a life of 2,000 hours. These bulbs have been lasting only 3 to 4 months, about 300 to 400 hours, and need to be replaced over and over. Finally, I started marking the dates on them when I replaced them to find out how long they last.

We still have original Sylvania bulbs over 6 years old that have not needed replacing, but the bulbs we replaced with Phillips bulbs have been replaced several times in the past 3 years. After going through 1 1/2 cases of bulbs we took a full case back to Home Depot and got a refund on it. I showed the manager the dates on a bulb when it was installed and when it burned out hoping they would start carrying better bulbs. He was not really interested. He said the main office takes care of that.

Home Depot is making 3 to four times as much profit by selling defective bulbs because people have to replace them so often. It does not seem right that it is more profitable to sell defective products because where is the incentive to sell better products? I am never going to buy Phillips bulbs again!

Yes, the bulbs were made in China. No surprise on that!
