Miscellaneous

I received a phone call from Empire Readers Service's stating they are part of the Publishers Clearance House and that I was going to be entered into their drawings, they also stated that I was already a winner of a nice diamond watch and that it would be on its way to me immediately. They talked so fast I didn't really get every word they said. They talked me into subscribing to their magazine subscription and gave me very good options to choose from.

I did choose and gave them my credit card number, again, they never said once I gave them the number they would continue to withdraw the money even if I wanted to cancel the subscription. I called this morning because I could not keep paying for the $29.99 a month subscription because of financial difficulties. The customer service woman told me that it was too bad and that I only had two options, on was to keep the same plan or lower my plan to a lesser amount for a longer time. I told her that I did not want to continue with my subscription and that they never told me that I could not cancel, she insisted that they did on the phone call but honestly I do not remember ther ever saying so.

I never usually buy things over the phone but since they said they were part of the Publishers Clearing House, I felt it was safe. They misrepresented themselves because they are not part of the PCH like they said. I'm not sure how to get out of this subscription if they are unwilling to let me out and they will continue to take the $29.99 out of my bank account. If there is anyone out there that has been through the same thing and got out of their subscription, please contact me at and let me know. Thanks
