Readers Direct
Unlawful contract

Miscellaneous

I recently received a letter from readers direct stating that legal action will be taken against me due to an unsettled balance. The issue that I am having is that I never agreed to be locked in to a payment plan. As a matter of fact the first conversation I had with readers direct I asked the representative if I could cancel at my own will. His answer was yes but that I would be great if I could finish all of the payments due to their obligation to the publishers.
Now please note that they stated I was not obligated to continue paying every month, they are the only ones obligated to the publisher. Since then I have had many phone conversations with readers direct where they are harassing me time and time again about a past due balance. The conflict began when I asked readers direct to cancel my subscription. At this point readers direct decided to change the rules on me and stated that I am obligated to pay the whole time period.
Please note that multiple times I have spoken with readers direct and every time the issue continues. They are forcing me to pay something that they stated I could cancel at any time and would not be charged for thereafter. Im not sure how to handle this but I do know that I will need help if this does in fact lead to court.
