Water wasting washer - Kenmore top load 2110

My parents bought a washer at our local Sears, and they are severely dissapointed with it. It takes so long to complete a cycle, uses 1/3 MORE water, and I had to teach them how to use it. It works as it is supposed to, but it is just way too much overkill. They wanted an old style washer, but the salesman told them that the price for the one they picked was priced too low to qualify for financing. They wanted to finance a washer, so the salesman suggested that they buy this one. My parents are in their 50's, so they had no idea that a salesman would take advantage of them. Must I now call all the shots on my parents' purchases from now on? They had done business at SEARS of Pikeville, KY since I was a child, and now I may have to tell them to stop, because I can no longer trust the people there. They wanted a simple, easy to use washer, not one that uses more water, washes and rinses too many times, and takes an hour to finish a regular cycle. I understand that technology advances, but please, if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!!!
