I have an HP Pavilion DV7-7012nr and I tried running a tune up through HP assistant and it would get to the second stage entitled "Disk Defrag" and not be able to load past it. I went on the internet to review some websites that could help me out because I got the laptop Christmas of 2010 and the warranty has expired. Google had some good things to say about myphonesupport.com, so I called them up and they linked up with my computer hardrive using a little box titled "LiveHelp." They were able to take control of my computer. They brought up some sort of scanner which had many files with warnings and errors beside it. The lady that helped me stayed on the phone with me a good 4 hours and in that time the computer began to move REALLY slow. A lot slower than it has ever moved, so I went to unistall some files that I no longer used and it began to go a lot smoother. She finally got to my disk defrag that that ran through windows and it began to work and then we disconnected of "LiveHelp" and she said she was marking the problem as resolve. I really should have done more research before calling and paying with my credit card because after several hours the disk defrag stopped working on the first disk and froze again. They did a very good job making me believe that my computer was at risk with the malware remover program they installed and the program that showed all the "erros" and "warnings" and insisted that my computer was at critical risk. There were different files on the side of the program they ran that each had their own amount ranging from 0 to 55,000 files infected. They told me that is why the disk wont defrag. I called back later because they didn't fix the problem and he told me it takes several hours to complete.
